WATERTOWN, WI – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced Maranatha’s 2012-13 volleyball squad as one of the 622 recipients of the Team Academic Award, which breaks the Association’s previous mark of 536, set in the 2011-12 academic year.
The 2012-13 academic year also marked the first time the volleyball team earned the award, which is based on academic excellence in the classroom, marked by a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average, out of a 4.0 scale.
The award is given to member schools in the NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, two and four-year colleges, the NCCAA Divisions I, and II, as well as high school teams.
The NCAA Division III, to which Maranatha belongs, set a new record of 93 schools, the third-most behind the NCAA Division I and high school (girls and boys).
